Important Notice: Pool Status Due To Poor Air Quality

Dear Pool Members,

We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the facilities at our pool. We are writing to address the current issue concerning the air quality at the pool.

Ensuring a clean and healthy environment is our top priority, and we have been actively monitoring the air quality to maintain a safe space for everyone. As you may have heard from the news, recent observations indicate a decline in air quality levels, primarily due to the wildfires in Canada.

To protect the well-being of all our members, we have decided to close the pool today, June 8th, 2023.

We will continue to operate in accordance with the guidelines provided by Airnow.gov, which are more conservative than local commercial air quality sensors. You can stay updated on air quality by visiting https://www.airnow.gov/?city=Fairfax&state=VA&country=USA

  • Purple – Pool is Definitely Closed and Activities Canceled
  • Red – Pool is Closed and Activities Canceled
  • Orange – Pool may be Open for Parts of the Day, but Don’t be Surprised if Activities are Canceled
  • Yellow – Pool is Open, and We Will Do Our Best to Communicate About Outdoor Activities
  • Green – All Good

Looking Ahead – We plan to be open tomorrow June 9th as scheduled and over the next few days for all or most of the day, depending on current air quality readings. Tomorrow is expected to be Orange but very close to Yellow. Saturday is forecasted to be in the middle of Orange, and we assume NVSL will make the call for Time Trials scheduled Saturday morning. We will monitor air quality data through tomorrow and Saturday, and plan to be open based on the current forecast.
