Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of patrons at Rutherford Pool. They have many responsibilities, including:
- Safety: Identifying potential threats, watching over patrons, and enforcing pool rules & regulations
- Rescues: Rescuing people who are drowning or in need of first aid
- First aid: Being trained to perform CPR and calmly manage crisis situations
- Supervise: Supervising swimming activities, keeping track of swimmers, and advising on water safety
- Customer service: Having excellent customer service skills and being able to handle difficult situations with grace and professionalism
- Other: Routine facility upkeep, preparing routine paperwork, and working in a team environment
We are hiring lifeguards for full time, part time, and substitute positions. Full time lifeguards will be expected to work at least 20 hrs a week and will be regularly scheduled to work multiple days. Part time lifeguards will work less than 20hrs per week and may only be scheduled for several shifts. Scheduling will vary for substitute positions on an as-needed basis when full and part time guards are unavailable. Identify on the application which of these options you are interested in. Also indicate whether you are, or are interested in becoming, a certified pool operator.
Minimum age requirement: 15 years old (with work permit)
