Rutherford Area Swim Club in Fairfax, Virginia is hiring a Pool Manager for the 2026 summer swim season. This seasonal leadership role oversees daily pool operations, supervises lifeguard staff, and ensures a safe, well-maintained aquatic facility for members.

The Pool Manager serves as the on-site operations lead and works closely with the Board of Directors to maintain compliance with Fairfax County Health Department regulations while fostering a positive, professional team environment.

This position is ideal for an experienced aquatic manager, head lifeguard, or pool operator seeking a summer leadership role in Northern Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of a community swimming pool in Fairfax, VA
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguard staff
  • Ensure proper lifeguard coverage and enforce safety protocols
  • Conduct staff training on emergency procedures, opening/closing routines, and pool policies
  • Maintain compliance with local and county health regulations
  • Oversee pool maintenance including water chemistry, testing, vacuuming, and backwashing
  • Perform routine safety inspections and address operational issues
  • Maintain required logs, certifications, and incident reports
  • Communicate regularly with Board members regarding staffing, maintenance, and operations
  • Conduct swim tests and assist with emergency response when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Pool Manager, Head Lifeguard, or Aquatic Supervisor
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or ability to obtain prior to opening
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and mentor teen and young adult staff
  • Comfortable making safety decisions in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing a community or neighborhood pool
  • Familiarity with Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) operations
  • Experience working with Fairfax County inspections or regulations
  • Returning pool managers are strongly encouraged to apply
