Dear Members,
As we embrace the colder months, we are excited to share highlights from our annual meeting and updates for the upcoming season. Thank you to all who attended the meeting, helping to shape the future of our pool.
Highlights from the Annual Meeting
- Membership Structure Update
Membership voted to eliminate Bonded Memberships in favor of a new model featuring Sustaining and Annual Memberships. This change reflects the current realities of pool operations and improves our financial sustainability. - Financial Health
Thanks to your contributions and participation, our fiscal position is stronger than it has been in years. Fundraising efforts, including the sale of legacy bricks, sponsorships, and events like the NVSL All-Star Relay Meet, have reduced our debt significantly. Special thanks to everyone who made these initiatives a success! - 2025 Budget and Membership Dues
The budget for 2025 was approved, including a modest increase in dues (our first since 2020). Members are encouraged to renew early, with rates increasing after March 1st. Renew today at https://rutherfordpool.org/membership/manage-account/#/
For more details on these and other topics covered at the meeting we encourage you to review the meeting minutes (https://rutherfordpool.org/about/annual-meeting-minutes/) and updated Bylaws (https://rutherfordpool.org/about/bylaws/#2024-bylaws) posted on our website. Note that all Bonded Memberships active in 2024 are automatically recognized as Sustaining Memberships in 2025. Any questions can be directed to President@rutherfordpool.org.
Celebrating 2024 Accomplishments
- Hosted our largest event ever, the NVSL All-Star Relay Meet, raising $11,500.
- Welcomed 31 new families to our pool community.
- Our Water Rats swim team won championships in both swim and dive.
- Introduced exciting social events like the Cardboard Regatta, Cornhole Tournament, and two Adult Parties with live music!
Looking Ahead
Even though the pool is closed for the winter, the Board is actively planning for the 2025 season. We have decided to continue self-management, saving nearly $20,000 and allowing for greater freedom in operations compared to contracting an outside management company. Over the coming weeks we will be posting pool manager, lifeguard, and gate guard positions on our website so stay tuned if you or someone you know might be interested. We are also calling on members to volunteer for key roles, including Dive Team Representative – please contact Rebecca Arguello at aquatics@rutherfordpool.org to learn more. Your time and talent are crucial to the success of our pool and we appreciate all those who volunteer!
Thank You
A special thanks to Jim McLaughlin (former President) and Saundra Honeysett (former Secretary) for their outstanding leadership and commitment over the 2024 season. We also welcome Colleen Mann to the Board who volunteered and was elected as our new Secretary. Our club’s success stems from your support and engagement. We look forward to another fantastic year together and wish you a warm, safe winter season.
Sincerely,
Your Rutherford Area Swimming Club Board
